Lock the Shields is a movement of families and of the collective church family who are locking shields of faith through prayer over schools and campuses. This initiative is an avenue to mobilize prayer warriors to serve as watchmen on the wall and and to ensure that every school is lifted up and spiritually guarded. As many join in this endeavor, we are hearing the roar of giant shields in the heavens coming together to form protective walls around our schools! There are three main focal points that we are asking everyone to consider as you pray.
We are asking God:
For campuses to be marked by prayer, praise, and revival. We are believing that Holy Spirit will move His people to deeper levels of prayer for our schools. James 5:16 says, “The effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much.” God wants to use believers to carry out His will on earth just as it is in heaven. He desires for us to lift up the name of Jesus Christ in whatever area we have influence, and as we lift up His name, He will draw all unto Him.
For salvation, healing, and deliverance in our schools. According to Luke 4:18, Jesus came to preach the gospel to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, and set free those who are oppressed. We are praying for divine appointments and encounters with Jesus! We are asking for divine light to shine in the dark places, for shackles of sin to be broken off, and for hope to be restored. We are believing that many will come to know the great love of our Heavenly Father.
For God to protect our schools from the enemy and his evil schemes. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” We believe that God is calling His people to be “watchman on the wall.” That is a term often seen in the Old Testament, which means to keep, watch over, be on guard, protect, and save lives. While school administration and staff take care of safety measures in the natural, we want to shore up security in the supernatural. It is our hope that as we pray, the glory of the Lord will fill buildings, that angels will surround the perimeters, and that the plans of the enemy will be thwarted. This includes both physical attacks of the enemy in the form of violence, along with spiritual attacks, such as temptations and lies that come against our children. We are asking Holy Spirit to reveal any evil plans of the enemy so that we may decree that they might not be carried out according to Isaiah 54:17.
In addition to these three main areas of focus, we are asking Holy Spirit to show you other needs in which to pray. If you have children in your home, please pray with them over their school. Matthew 18:19 states, “If two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” We believe that it is advantageous for prayer to be modeled in the home and for children to be encouraged as they grow in faith and in the authority of Jesus. We desire for children to understand that their faith and words matter in the Kingdom of God.
Finally, please feel free to share this information with family, friends, home groups, churches, etc. We believe this initiative is a battle strategy from the Lord to lift up local schools and to combat school violence and tragedy in our city, state, and our nation. About the Founder
Keli Caraveo is a former school teacher, military wife, and mother of three. In August of 2019, the nation was on the heels of multiple school shootings, and she had been seeking the Lord as to how the Church could employ more offensive methods in protecting children and campuses. She woke up to the Lord repeatedly saying, “I want watchmen on the wall.” She heard the roar of shields coming together and locking over cities. She saw families praying over schools and churches coming together as the family, united as one, covering schools in prayer. As she ran with the vision God gave her, Lock the Shields was born. We believe this initiative is a battle strategy from the Lord to lift up local schools and to combat school violence and tragedy in our city, state, and our nation.
